Cons in the Cloud

All technology was not created equal. Here are a few of the potential things that

can go wrong in the cloud.

  • Not having an on site backup for your data your leaving it up to a third party to
    protect ultra sensitive company information

  • "You are subject to theft, loss, hackers, power outages, and natural disasters".

  • Your cloud provider can be careless. Not all cloud providers were created equal
and its important to do your research if you decide to use cloud based software.

  • You want a fully regulated cloud provider with state of the art systems.
A company could potentially not be able to access its information if one of these
things were to happen or you could permanently lose all data if the place it was
being stored happened to be wiped out by a natural disaster.

  1. I understand the risk that users make when uploading a file on the cloud. I use it often when I forget my flash-drive, and its a great tool just for back up purposes.

  2. What cloud provider is the best? What is the difference between the cloud providers that are available right now, such as cost and quality?

  3. These are good points to take into account. I often use cloud computing for school purposes so I can access my information from any computer or device available and not worry about carrying a flash drive.

  4. Very insightful information. Now I know how to better protect myself when using the cloud. It is strange to hear that not all providers are the same, because I often use the cloud in many different areas. Which cloud provider is the safest and cheapest?

  5. I am a big advocate of using other storage devices to backup important files. I have had many instances where I have lost all of my data either off of my phone or computer, and wished I had taken time to back it up in some way. So to me, using the cloud is a great option. My question, however, is how safe is it? We are so concerned with individuals being able to access our personal information on the internet. How safe are these programs for backing up files? Are there any that you would say are full proof? And what are things we should look for in cloud providers when deciding who/what to use?
